i'm Uday. i build software systems where infrastructure, data and product meet. in practice that means i'm usually somewhere between a backend service, a Linux box and a device on a cellular network.

right now that's Stratalis Tech, a company i co-founded to build software for electricity distribution utilities. our product, Discom360, brings meter data, billing, field operations and consumer services onto one platform. i took it from first design to production, including two mobile apps now live on both app stores.

before that i co-founded RetailQ and spent three and a half years as its CTO, building point-of-sale software for small retailers and restaurants. at its peak more than 190 franchises across Punjab ran on it. the product lives on as FloPOS, now run as a separate company by my co-founder Bankim Bhagat. small shops, real money and no room to be clever for its own sake. it taught me more about software than any course did.

on the research side i co-authored BEACON, a multimodal behavioural biometrics dataset for continuous authentication. i built its data pipeline and upload server, ran the GPUs it was collected on, and cleaned and released the dataset. i was also a grand finalist at ISRO's Bharatiya Antariksh Hackathon 2025, working on solar wind data from Aditya-L1.

the things that genuinely interest me are scale, reliability, interoperability, and systems that have to survive contact with the real world. i like problems where the answer isn't in a library, and i like making a model run faster on hardware it shouldn't run on at all.

i've been breaking computers since c. 2004, and i haven't stopped.
